NEW LAYERS OF ARCHITECTURE
What traces did modernism leave? What layers do contemporary projects add? How does nature shape the urban landscape? How is the history of the city told today – in the context of the project to reconstruct the Museum of Architecture in Wrocław?
During the meeting, organized together with the National Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning, together with invited guests, we will look at various aspects of the architectural transformations of Wrocław – from material urban decisions to immaterial social, cultural and natural processes. The inspiration for the discussion is the exhibition “Layers” by German artist Sinta Werner, who in her work explores the relations between reality and its reflection – both literal and metaphorical. Her method of work is based on the deconstruction of architectural structures, analysis of their layers and tensions resulting from the dynamic transformations of urban space. Through photographic collages, installations and interventions in space, she shows how history and modernity intertwine in architecture, creating a complex, multi-layered urban landscape. Her artistic explorations and photographic experiments become a starting point for reflection on the relationships, tensions and processes shaping the contemporary architecture of Wrocław.
The meeting will begin at 3:00 p.m. Admission is free.
