PLANET SHOP
In February, for a few weeks, we are transforming Poznań’s Rodriguez Gallery into the “Planet Shop” — a place where nothing is for sale, but there’s always something to look at. The exhibition will be an extension of the concept realized a year ago in the FOTO-GEN Gallery in Wrocław. Back then, in the middle of winter, we invited visitors to settle into the “Winter Salon” by the kinoMANUAL duo.
The “Planet Shop” alludes to the view in shop windows of the July 1969 broadcast of the first human landing on the Moon as part of the Apollo 11 mission. The display of televisions in the window became more than mere products to be sold, but windows to the world and the universe. At that extraordinary moment, they played the role of a public theater of technology, enabling the joint experience of a historic event. For many people, it was their first encounter with a global live broadcast, which aroused great emotion and a sense of taking part in something exceptional.
The exhibition will be open from February 14 to March 28, 2025, at the Rodriguez Foundation, 13/4 Wodna Street, Poznań.
This project is co-financed by the budget of the Self-Government of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship and the City of Poznań.
