LOTTO
The second in the series of concerts accompanying the kinoMANUAL exhibition “Winter Showroom” took place in front of a full audience on Saturday, March 2, at 7 p.m. This time we hosted the LOTTO trio from Gdańsk, consisting of Mike Majkowski (double bass), Łukasz Rychlicki (guitar) and Paweł Szpura (drums). Together they explore the boundaries of different types of music, such as improv, country, noise, minimalism, creating music that is hypnotic and touching at the same time. So far, they are the authors of five albums: debut “ASK THE DUST” (2014), “LOTTO” (2016), “VV” (2017), “Lotto HOURS AFTER” (2020), “AXOLOTL” and “SUMMER” (2023) and the EP “PIX” (2019). During its career, LOTTO has played many concerts, including at renowned festivals such as UNSOUND FESTIVAL in Krakow, OFF FESTIVAL and TAURON NOWA MUZYKA in Katowice, JAZZ JANTAR in Gdańsk, ENJOY JAZZ HEIDELBERG in Germany, and LE GUESS WHO? in Utrecht.
Aga Jarząb and Maciek Bączyk, using old projectors and other analog equipment, again created the visual setting of the concert, which resulted in a colorful light show matching the music played live by LOTTO. As the kinoMANUAL duo emphasizes: “We have known LOTTO almost since the beginning of the band’s existence. We have made clips, photos and trailers for their subsequent, phenomenal albums.”
Admission to the concert was free of charge. The music scene accompanying the “Winter Showroom” exhibition is supervised by DISCOMFORT Booking and Hubert Kostkiewicz.
